Cataraqui Conservation values the health and wellbeing of its staff, volunteers, visitors and clients, and under the current circumstances, has chosen to take some practical, pro-active steps to help mitigate the spread of COVID 19.

As previously announced, we have cancelled Maple Madness and all public activities, effectively immediately. We also understand that we have important responsibilities in the area of water level and water quality monitoring, and this work, as well as other aspects of our core business, will continue.

This afternoon, Cataraqui Conservation is also announcing the following measures. Starting at the end of the business day on Monday, March 16, 2020:

  • The Cataraqui Conservation Administration Office (1641 Perth Road, Kingston) is closed to the general public until Tuesday, April 14. Staff will be available during regular business hours of 8:30am-4:30pm.
  • The Outdoor Centre at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area is closed to the general public until Tuesday, April 14. This includes all education and weekend programs.
  • Programs and services including Cataraqui Conservation’s flood forecasting and warning operations and planning and permitting remain active, with staff available by telephone or email.
  • The trails at all our conservation areas (Little Cataraqui Creek, Mac Johnson Wildlife Area, Lyn Valley, Marshlands, Lemoine Point, Parrott’s Bay, Gould Lake) and access to the Cataraqui Trail remain open for physical and mental health benefits of being out in nature.

Community members are asked to utilize phone or e-mail if they need to contact or correspond with staff during this time. Please note that response and processing times may be delayed. Permits or other hard copy documents can be dropped in the mail slot at the Administration Office, emailed to the appropriate staff member, and payments can be taken over the phone at 613-546-4228 ext. 0.

Cataraqui Conservation continues to monitor this developing situation. Please check our website at, for updates. Your patience, support and cooperation are appreciated.
