This is what Earth Day in the Cataraqui Watershed looks like! When members of the community come together to support the environment, in a very meaningful way.
On Monday April 22nd, students from Vanier Public School joined the Friends of Mac Johnson and Cataraqui Conservation staff to clean up the ditches at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area along the Centennial Road access in Brockville. Volunteers collected a grand total of nine VERY large bags of garbage, along with some miscellaneous items.
A special thank you to Mrs. Levac and Mrs. Notman from Upper Canada District School Board for coordinating your student volunteers and to Howard Campbell and Sons for sponsoring and providing the portable toilet. Although trash in the watershed is not a good thing, it is SO good when the community can come together to make a difference.
