Cataraqui Conservation Opens Second Round of Public Consultation on Two Key Strategies
Cataraqui Conservation is inviting members of the public to review and share their comments on the final draft versions of two important strategic documents, which will help guide the organization for the future.
The Watershed-based Resource Management Strategy and the Conservation Area Strategy have both been drafted to comply with the provincial government’s 2021 legislation (Ontario Regulation 686/21: Mandatory Programs and Services).
Members of the public were invited to comment on the preliminary documents in July, and this feedback helped to refine the latest versions of the Strategies. This next phase will allow stakeholders and interested members of the public to offer comments on the final draft before it goes to the Cataraqui Conservation Full Authority Board for approval and then implementation.
Two other documents are also now open for public input. The Acquisition and Disposition Guidelines and Conservation Areas Management Guidelines are supporting documents for the more overarching Conservation Areas Strategy. They represent a more ‘nuts and bolts’ schedule of the way decisions are made regarding how the Authority acquires or disposes of property, and secondly, how conservation lands (including conservation areas) are managed.
Feedback surveys and comment forms, including downloads of the strategy and guideline documents, are hosted at https://cataraquiconservation.ca/pages/get-involved. The deadline for submitting feedback is Wednesday October 9, 2024.
