Cataraqui Conservation will be closing and locking the gates along the Cataraqui Trail on Monday, April 07, 2025.

The gates are only open during snowmobile season to allow snowmobiles with a valid Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) permit to use the Trail. The gates are closed during the balance of the year to keep motor vehicles off the Trail. Other than snowmobiles with a valid permit, only authorized maintenance vehicles are allowed to access the Cataraqui Trail.

The Cataraqui Trail is a 104 km long multi-use trail along a former railway line that goes from Smiths Falls to Strathcona (near Napanee). Permitted uses on the trail include hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. Dogs must always be on a leash while on the trail, and please poop and scoop. Help us keep the trail clean and inviting to users: please do not litter; pack it in and pack it out.
