Over the past few years, the Friends have started trees from seeds, nuts, and tree cuttings to replace shortages of bare root saplings from nurseries. Many of these are harvested at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area making them truly native. Stefan Forester, founder of the Nursery, initiated this practice as well as introducing an expandable greenhouse to nurture these seedlings.

- The raised wooden bed they are using is a recycled dock. The wire cover keeps rodents out and allows for shielding plants from excessive sun with burlap fabric.
