At the March meeting of the Cataraqui Conservation Full Authority Board, Chair Gary Oosterhof recognized employees who have hit certain notable milestones in their tenure of service with the organization.

Staff members honoured in 2024 are as follows:

Laura Dietrich – 20 years

As Financial Analyst, Laura is a key member of the finance staff in the Corporate Services department. Laura joined Cataraqui Conservation as an Accounting Assistant in the spring of 2002 and now holds the title of Financial Analyst for the organization. As a member of the Corporate Services team, Laura is responsible for day-to-day accounting functions including Payroll, Accounts Receivable, Tangible Capital Assets, General Ledger Maintenance, and overseeing Accounts Payable.

Laura provides careful and thoughtful attention to a broad range of accounting and administrative tasks and is one of the people who keeps Cataraqui Conservation running smoothly. She has consistently found ways to streamline and improve the quality of business processes and has taken an integral role in financial reporting for grant submissions and supports many initiatives across the organization applying her organizational and financial skills daily. Laura’s cheerful approach, and supportive nature is greatly appreciated by her peers.

Travis York – 20 years

Travis holds the position as GIS and Corporate Technology Analyst in the Corporate Services department. He joined Cataraqui Conservation in November 2003 and provides Geographical Information System (GIS), Database, and Mapping services as well as corporate technology support.

Travis supports Cataraqui Conservation business areas with appropriate computer hardware and software, while managing a broad range of data, and services to municipalities and partners. He has been instrumental in delivering products that help to improve efficiency and access to data including the integration of on-line tools and services.

Donna Campbell – 15 years

Donna was hired by Cataraqui Conservation in January of 2008 as the administrative assistant to the General Manager and the Board of Directors. Working within the General Managers department she is responsible for logistics, communications, and other forms of support for both the General Manager and the Board.

Donna has supported the organization through several changes including ensuring that Cataraqui Conservation provides transparency and accountability to the members and public, the transition to hybrid meeting models, and implementation of Cataraqui Conservations bylaws and administrative procedures.

Donna’s recent accomplishments include supporting the development of the new administration office and transitioning to the new space including the procurement of furniture.  Donna has worked with three general managers and is awaiting the arrival the next General Manager in April. Donna is always supportive of the organization and staff.  She is often seen at Cataraqui Conservation properties and events with her family and dog Theo.

Krista Fazackerley – 10 years

Krista joined the organization in 2013 as the Communications & Marketing Specialist, part of the Communications and Education Department. In 2015 she was elevated to a more senior role as the Supervisor of Communications & Education.

Krista’s position supports all Cataraqui Conservation’s programs and services and manages the Authorities online presence. She works with other departments on a variety of projects from signage to flood messaging, customer service to Friends Groups, and promotes Cataraqui Conservation’s services to watershed residents, member municipalities, and the media.

Krista is a dedicated and influential member of the Cataraqui Conservation team, leading the corporate branding strategy, development of public documents and materials, health and safety programs, as well as public programming and education. She has an eye for detail in all aspects of the work she does and strives to highlight staff and the programs and services Cataraqui Conservation offers.

Brock Sheen – 10 years

Brock joined Cataraqui Conservation as a summer student from 1999 to 2002 supporting the Outdoor Centre, the operations crew, and the gate house at the Gould Lake Conservation Area. In May 2013 he became a seasonal operations crew member and is now Cataraqui Conservation Lead Hand within the Conservation Lands Department.

 Working as a member of the Operations team, Brock helps ensure that Cataraqui Con-servation lands, buildings, equipment, water control structures and the related infrastructure are kept in good condition and safe. Brock strives to provide a valuable experience for patrons, often interacting in the field with our friends groups and visitors sharing his experiences and knowledge of forestry and Conservation area management.  Brock has a diverse skill set to support the ever-changing needs of the Operations team.

Regardless of the nature of the call, Brock is always there to provide assistance and solve the day-to-day issues that arise across the watershed at Cataraqui Conservation’s properties.

Rhonda Roantree - 5 years

Rhonda is the Resource Planning Clerk, a key member of Cataraqui Conservation’s Development Review Team.

Rhonda joined Cataraqui Conservation in the Spring of 2018 as the Receptionist / Clerk and in 2021 she transitioned to a new role as Resource Planning Clerk within the Development Review team. Rhonda deals with public questions, is responsible for all permit and property inquires, and maintains Cataraqui Conservation’s planning and development database.

Throughout her tenure with Cataraqui Conservation Rhonda has used her skills to seek out organization efficiencies and areas for improvement.  Her organizational skills and abilities to streamline processes has helped to keep the planning and permitting programs functioning and is dedicated to continuous improvement for the Development Review Team processes.
