Cataraqui Conservation staff will be conducting trail improvements at the Lemoine Point Conservation Area throughout the month of November.
Delivery of stone material will commence in the first week of November, and will take place via the south entrance, utilizing Trail 5 from the parking lot to the southern junction of Trail 5 with Trail 2.
Improvement work will include the following, please view the Trail Map for exact locations of trail work:
-
Service Road (Trail 5) from the south parking lot to the junction of Trail 5 and Trail 2:
Trail 5 is the main service road for the Lemoine Point Conservation Area, delivery of stone will impact the trail surface in this section. This trail will be closed to the public from the south parking lot to the southern junction with Trail 2 when materials are being delivered to enable dump trucks to access our stockpile location. Once all materials have been delivered, the trail will be repaired and resurfaced with compacted stone dust for accessibility.
-
Trail 1 (shoreline Trail):
High water levels have undermined the shoreline trail; therefore, the formal trail will be moved further inland to ensure consistency of the trail surface for those with accessibility needs.
Temporary trail closures will occur while work is taking place – please respect the ‘Do Not Enter’ signs while work is being conducted. These improvements are necessary so that the new trail will maintain connectivity of the shoreline trail and consistency of surface materials. As well, it will see the removal of the small wooden boardwalk which will be replaced with culverts and stone surface for improved access.
-
Trail 5 to Trail 1:
Temporary trail closures will occur while work is taking place on these trails – please respect the ‘Do Not Enter’ signs while work is being conducted.
The current grassed trail section will have its surface upgraded to compacted stone dust to improve the trail surface for general usage.
