Little Cat Ski Trail Condition Update

Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area grooms and track-sets 13 km of cross-country ski trails when conditions permit in January and February.

Current Conditions: Trails 1-4 have been groomed and track-set and the service road to the dam and sugar bush has been compression dragged. Conditions are variable with some areas in the forest with little snow cover.

  • Trails 3, 4 and the service roads are in good condition with a couple of sparse sections (see first photo below)
  • Trails 1 and 2 are in poor condition with little snow cover and some woody debris showing through (see second photo below). We recommend not using these trails at this time.
  • Please note that the service roads are compression dragged only and for multi-use: walking, walking your dog and skate skiing. Trail 5 is in its natural state for multi-use.
  • Please do not walk, walk your dog, or skate ski on the groomed track set. Not sure what a track-set is? Please view our recent post on ski trail etiquette

Our track-set cross-country ski trails are a unique feature in our area and time consuming to produce. Please help us keep the track-set as pristine as possible, our ski season is becoming shorter and shorter, please respect the effort that goes into making them and users of the conservation area. Please do not walk or walk your dog on the track-set.

We currently do not have enough snow to do a second grooming before the weekend. Grooming operations take place after a fresh snowfall. We will post further updates only when trail conditions change. Check back tomorrow (Thursday Jan. 30) for information regarding weekend ski and snowshoe rentals.
