In the winter, when conditions permit, Trails 1, 2, 3 and 4 at Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area are groomed and track set for classic cross-country skiing. Trail 5 and the service roads to the dam and sugar bush are available for walking, dog walking, snowshoeing and skate skiing. Our track-set ski trails are a unique feature in the community, please help us keep them in good shape by not walking, dog walking, skate skiing or snowshoeing on the track-set. We have a very short ski season that is at the whim of mother nature, lets keep the tracks as pristine as we can for as long as we can!
When skiing on the trails please follow the following cross-country ski trail etiquette:
- Ski on the right hand side of the trail.
- Ski single file and not side-by side.
- Give descending skiers the right of way.
- Yield the track to faster skiers or skiers saying "track" by allowing them to pass on the left hand side.
- Do not obstruct the ski trails or intersections. Move off the track if you fall or while you are taking a break.
- Do not stop where you are not visible to on-coming skiers.
- If you are skiing with a dog please do not ski on the track set trails. Your dog must be leashed at all times and please stoop and scoop.
When walking, walking your dog, snowshoeing or skate skiing, please abide by the following etiquette:
- Please do not walk, walk your dog, snowshoe or skate ski on the track-set
- Trail 5 and the service roads are available for multi-use activities.
- Dogs are welcome provided that they are on a leash and under control at all times. This is for the safety and consideration for other visitors and the wildlife that lives in the Conservation Area. Free-running dogs can be intimidating to other visitors and can also chase and disturb wildlife.
